He is originally from Hastings, NE and came to UMN to obtain his degree in Quantitative and Psychometric Methods. Alec is broadly interested in psychological measurement and statistical methods. Currently, Alec’s research is in latent variable models, such as item response theory (IRT). Alec is working with his advisor on novel quasi-parametric IRT models, their application to personality data, and associated theoretical issues of model selection. The latter he will be investigating to obtain his Master’s degree in Statistics, which he is pursuing en route to his PhD in Psychology. He comes to the RTC/OM with a desire to improve the measurement quality and robustness of HCBS outcome measures.
